A Glass of Milk

Unknown Author

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a glass of water! She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, "how much do I owe you?"

"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept payment for showing kindness."

He said ... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man grew stronger. He had been ready to give up and quit, but not now.

Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose from his chair and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once.

He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won and the lady fully cured.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge, and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"

(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly

Please accept this as constructive criticism.

RSS disapproves of statehood for Telangana
"The proposed creation of Telangana will only add to the country's woes without solving any of its problems. We need to find out ways to unite the people and not divide them."

Smaller states in line with our thinking: RSS
"The RSS has always held that creating a few more states for better development and convenience of administration, without affecting national unity and without creating bad blood between people, is always welcome."

The record of smaller states is not very encouraging to justify the promotion of the smaller state idea.
More states will mean more non-plan expenditure which is non-productive and burdening the common man. Already the lion’s share of the state revenue is spent on the luxurious life of the political class and bureaucracy and the rest going to payment of salary, allowances and the security of our rulers. The spending on welfare of the people and development is already negligible.

These shameful somersaults and flip-flops have become a feature. Mistakes happen but if repeated mistakes are not reviewed and avoided, it can cause serious damage to our reputation. Congress party seems to manage its cohesiveness better than the Sangh Parivar.

Your blog is good and I have subscribed to the feeds also. Though it comes as a surprise that some of the articles posted are not verified and thus are false or misleading!!

Take this 1 for example. It is a true incident but the story is highly framed. The original incident was-

Misleading articles are not good for the blog in the longer run as some reader start looking at the other posts with suspicion!
