if you want them to learn Hindi, pl start learning Tamil too-- Tarun Vijay in Parliament demands Tamil for North

Tarun Vijay demands Tamil for North and Thiruvalluvar's B' day as All Language Day
31st July 2014- New Delhi- Today  BJP Member of Parliament from Uttarakhand Mr Tarun Vijay demanded that govt must introduce Tamil language optional teaching in North Indian schools as a step to strengthen national unity. Amidst a wide applause from all parties and Members cutting across the party and ideological lines, Tarun Vijay's suggestion was applauded by thumping of the desks.

Mr Tarun Vijay's Special Mention,. first time on such a subject by any North Indian MP reads like this-

The glorious history of all Indian languages is unique and supremely great. We must work to develop feelings of appreciation and respect for each other.

In this regard it is necessary that people from North India be encouraged to learn any one Southern language through a free choice option.

For example the incomparable golden heritage that we have in the form of Tamil should make every Indian proud.

Tolkappiam, ,app 5000 years old. And on a broad spectrum Silappadigaram, Chintamani, Manimekalai, Valayapathi and Gundalakesi are great classics of Tamil literature.

The onus of the greatest classic in Tamizh literature undoubtedly goes to Kambar's Ramayana, the epic poem
One of the greatest works in Tamizh, which is widely preached even to this day, is Tiruvalluvar's Tirukkural .

Its imprints are found in various parts of the globe. How many of us know about the global influence and public services of great emperors likeChera, Chola, and Pandya kings ? Only Ashoka and Vikramaditya are not India, unless we have an all encompassing respect for Cholas, Krishnadev Rayas and Pandyas also. Similarly we have great history of Bangla, Malayalam, Telugu and other languages.

I demand observing Thiruvalluvar's birthday as Glorious Indian Languages Day in all parts of the country symbolising respect for all Indian languages and introducing Tamil also in North Indian schools as an optional subject for strengthening national unity. Mr Tarun Vijay ended his special mention with Palamaiyana Tamil Mozhiyar Vananguhiren.

297Mere Eyewash and cosmetic Solution....

If his heart is truly for linguistic equality and justice, then he must ask for an amendment asking all 8th schedule languages as official languages of the Indian union...

Otherwise this would be useless solution in the papers and dances on the proposed day. Actually Indian Mother Languages Day must be celebrated by commemorating the hundreds of souls who got killed by police and army during the 1967 "anti-hindi imposition" protests.

I cannot agree more. My first comment. Myself lived in Trivandrum for 21 years, mother tongue, TAMIL. But I learned Malayalam till college (have profiency in the language even to write poetry). Can Read, speak, write Malayalam but the language tamil is something which I can speak (with a Malayalam accent). I don't know how to read or write tamil even today. Hindi is a compulsory language from 5th to 10th - I wrote 18 exams but never got connected with the language well. I can speak the language very well and also read (writing skill is completely gone). Means, I know three Indian languages apart from a foreign language. I have two daughters who are born and brought up in Delhi. Pathetic scene I should say. They have no command over Hindi (despite studying in delhi), school offer only German and French (saying second language !! while it is actually third language). English has become the first language for Indian schools !!!!! One cannot get rid of English agreed but why do Delhi schools offer only these two as language options ? It is hilarous and I will call myself an authority on this subject !!! My elder daughter is in Amity doing 5 year law. There again, she is learning French !!! There is no end. My only hope is SMRITI IRANI. I actually look at her as a person who is specially deputed by the almighty to stop/ control this nonsense

Dear Mr. Tarun Vijay,
Immensely happy and pleasantly surprised to read your statement in the parliament. I am sure you have cherished the sweetness of Tamil and am sure you are well read about the language as well. India would remain as one nation and be truly a valiant nation if more Tarun Vijays voice their mind from the north. Thank you very much Mr. Tarun Vijay. Arimavalavan

Dear Sir,

Thanks for the great speech in the parliament on the need for learning of south Indian languages like Tamil etc. by the northern Indians.

I also would like to thank you for demanding for observing the "Thiruvalluvar's birthday as Glorious Indian Languages Day". This is really a great step forward for the Tamil community. In the era of political clash of interests in personalities none of the Dravidian political parties M.Ps dare to make such a speech in the Indian parliament.

The following was my post in the FB:

Well said. I learned Hindi, a bit with proud and spent last decade in north India-Indore, Delhi and Chandigarh. I urge my brothers and sisters in India to learn a bit of any one south Indian language by their own choice-Tamil Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

The principle should be simple -- in Tamil Nadu, Tamil should be the crown jewel, its primacy should be undisputed. Same with Telugu in AP and Telangana, Kannada in Karnataka, Malayalam in Kerala.

If you pacify Tamil, you think the opposition to Hindi imperialism can be silenced? What about Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam?

Most South Indian Grand Moms who speak all four major South Indian languages tell that Telugu is the sweetest of the four. There is a famous quote by the Great emperor Sri Krishna Devaraya about the beauty of Telugu. It is the language of Saint Thyagaraja and other immortal poets.

"if you want them to learn Hindi, pl start learning Tamil too-- Tarun Vijay in Parliament demands Tamil for North"

Golden Words from a genuine heart. I was wondering how so many Tamil people learnt Hindi and do their profession in North India including Parliament; but it is rare to find a North Indian speaks Tamil.

By your speech in Parliament, you have moved into the hearts of lakhs and lakhs of Tamilians. Let us be proud that we are Indians.

Dear Mr Tarun Vijay,

Thank you for your initiative taken on the indian languages awareness for the whole country and registered your valuable intention in the parliment.
In India Sanskrit & Tamil are the only 2 languages recognised as Vedhic languages. Apart from the literature books in Tamil there are Vedhas (Panniru Thirumurai which consists of 18,351 sutras. Especially 3000 sutras for Yoga philosophy in Thirumanthiram which was given by Great Saint Thirumoolar).
All the above philosophy are for the whole world given by our ancient sages. We should secure this and bring to the whole world with day to day life activities by means of yoga practices.
All these need to be translated in Indian languages and in english.

I am practicing & doing research in Yoga and Vedhas about 40 over years.
I translated 2 volumes among 50 volume of Panniru thirumurai in English. Due to financial constraint I couldn't complete the remaining volumes). It would be appreciated if the government taken over this project. Actually its the government responsibility to give this as an education to the public. If the government establish this, sure the crime rate will be reduced.

All these philosophy are theories it should be bring forward in to practical. Then only the mankind can enjoy benefit (healthy life and harmony relation with society).

I wonder such a thought of an M.P. from North India about Tamil and Tamilians... This intimates that the national integrity doesn't dissolve yet... If your demand is amended, then the whole India will come to know the glory of Tamil and the greatest Tamil people and Kings of World history...

Dear Mr Tarun, if we can prove that Sanskrit is an off-shoot of Tamil, wouldn't it be logical to make Tamil the official language of India? http://www.heritagewiki.org/index.php?title=SumeruTamil:_The_Base_of_Sanskrit-1

Truth can never be hidden for too long!
