An evening enveloped in tears and silence and prayers with the Heroes.

5th July Homage meet. Dehradun.

A tearful Homage meet, enveloped in sadness, tears  and some Hope.

It was like small diyas floating in Ganga in a flower basket.

The entire audience consisting of top army, Navy, IAF officers, jawans, civil society members, leaders of philanthropic activities, doctors, and media persons, wore silence for the entire one and a half hour proceedings. No clapping, no mobile ringing even once, though no request was made for keeping the mobiles shut. The heroes of the forces , all three wings and NDRF were on the dias with Governor H.E. Aziz Qureshi and the organiser of the Homage meet Shri Tarun Vijay, Member of Parliament from Uttarakhand. The lamp was lighted by Governor and other dignitaries before the picture of Amar Jawan Jyoti  , Kedarnath and Hemkunt Saheb. Tarun Vijay detailed the agony , pains , distress of the yatris and the jawans who emerged as our new gods. Bangalore's Mrs Choodie Shivaram's Thank-You cards, sent to thousands of Jawans was mentioned, and also the contribution of Dr Nityanand ji, of Daivee Apda Peedit Sahayata Samiti (RSS), Dr Pranav Pandya of Gayatri Pariwar, Baba Ramdev, Sanatan Dharma Sabha, Rotary, and many many other organisations.

Patriotic songs were sung in the beginning . Tarun Vijay read the special messages received for this occasion from the President and PM,  Air Commodore Rajesh Issar, the hero of the air rescue operations, who did max no of sorties and brought hundreds back,  read Air Chief NAK Browne's message, Vice Admiral SK Jha gave a scintillating message on behalf of Navy Chief Admiral D.K.Joshi, NDRF's DIG Shri JPS Rawat gave details of  the courageous actions of his boys and the GOC, Sub Area Command Maj Gen SK Agarwal read the inspiring message from the Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh.

Governor Aziz Qureshi spoke highly of the armed forces and said that India is united because of the soldiers and the armed forces and not because of the politicians.

World famous Garhwali Jagar singer Basanti Bisht sang a Garhwali homage song in praise of the soldiers and their supreme sacrifice. 
Later in the evening the city people all over lighted Diyas and candles to pay homage to the martyrs.
